David Bahati responds to Rick Warren

David Bahati, the Ugandan politician, who tabled the anti-homosexual bill in parliament, has responded to Rick Warren, "the American Pastor".

"It is unfortunate that a man of God, Rick Warren who has inspired million and millions of people around the world for a long time has been blackmailed to disappoint them in one day," Bahati said. "We will continue to pray for him."

Bahati was responding to comments that Rick Warren has denounced the anti-homosexual bill, calling it unchristian. The confident and sober looking Bahati said that Rick Warren has chosen to please the world instead of God and it is very unfortunate.

Rick Warren has been under intense pressure to speak about the bill, which the American media has portrayed to be sponsored by him, because of his relationship with the Charismatic Martin Ssempa of Makerere Community Church in Uganda, a strong supporter of the Bill.

Bahati would like the world to know that the bill he tabled in parliament is a full representation of Ugandans who in a survey by the Steadman group stood 95% against homosexuality. He also says the bill was introduced to provide equal protection to the boy child as it is for the girl child, and that is why clauses like aggravated homosexuality – which has been the cause of heat around the world – was introduced.

It is widely agreed upon in Uganda that homosexuality is bad, evil and a taboo, and the issues of death sentence are small things that can be dealt with later.

  1. Hate of any form when combined with institutional government power has to be destroyed regardless of national identity. Hitler and Museveni, will be vanquished by the world as were the genocidal dreams of Hutu Power at the expense of Tutsi blood. Gay people are human beings let us not forget that and children of God. Uganda as a nation only exists when it remains a good global citizen, should it fail to do so good people will strike it down and it's leaders sent to the Hague. Uganda is no different then the other leaders and other genocidal countries, such as Germany, Japan, Rwanda, Cambodia...

  2. Peter Lien, this is love never hate,it's you who puts it as hate. The truth as contained in this bill can never be destroyed today, tomorrow and forever.
Homosexuality is never a human right and Uganda is a sovereign Nation who can only handle it's matters democratically as is being done with this bill,no threats from any person or country can deter what the people of Uganda democratically want and need from archieving it.
The anti homosexuality bill is going to pass democratically and any country that is opposing it is opposing democracy and it's principles.

  3. How ridiculous! How can someone see a brother going 2 perish and push him to perish for ever all in the name of human rights.Infact those who think are protecting homosexuals are enemies of mankind. You very well know that a man should be a man and use his body parts as God intended them to be.It annoys how people pretend that they love homosexuals when they enjoy seeing their rectums hanging. As christians, alot has been done towards homosexuals by opening up our churches for counselling and rehabilitation but as long as a vice is not regulated, soon it will eat up all ugandans. As we preach the word, the government should do their part of regulating the vice to save the young generation.
